Saltrams step it up here with this Mamre Brook shiraz from a pretty fine vintage. It’s a full-bodied, rich number that shows ripe smells of sweet plums, black olives, pepper and anise spices, and toasted cedar on the nose. The palate is plush and juicy, with sumptuous spiced plum flavours, a solid line of savoury tannins, and a tight cedary, toasty finish. Flavoursome, controlled, balanced.

Aroma: This full bodied Shiraz is generous in flavour with notes of savoury black olive complemented with notes of dark berry fruit and savoury spice.
Palate: The palate is elegantly balanced and textural with layers of fine tannins providing the wine a backbone for the lengthy flavours of chocolate, dark cherry and plums.
Food Pairing: It will cellar for at least a decade, but if you can’t wait, give it plenty of air and serve with roast beef.
